This month - July 2008 - marks the second anniversary of AussieAuthors.

The website was set up because, as authors ourselves, we knew how difficult it was for Australian and New Zealand authors to get the publicity they needed.

We'd sought exposure in the US, and we'd even run a somewhat similar website in the past.  But the majority of authors on that website had been from the US, with just a small handful being from Australia.

Our research showed us there was nothing like this site in Australia for Australian authors.  And we couldn't find anything along these lines in New Zealand either.

We wanted to change the publicity chances for authors from these two countries, and so AussieAuthors began.

Admittedly, it was a struggle at first.  We found it extremely difficult to get the site noticed. That's not such an issue these days, thank goodness.

We're looking at ways to expand the site and make it more interesting for you.  We always love to hear from you, because this site is for you, and we want you to keep coming back.

Despite what many people believe, AussieAuthors is not a money making website.  We make barely enough to cover our hosting costs, and at times struggle to keep afloat. (We now sell advertising space, which has helped immensely.)

Our aim is, and always has been, to provide good quality exposure to Down-Under authors, as well as connect readers with their Aussie and NZ favourites.
