Ghost Boy is a timeslip adventure for primary age students set partly at the Quarantine Station in Sydney during a particularly grisly period of the site's history, the smallpox outbreak of 1881.  There is a special Ghost Boy tour and teacher pack available at the QS for schools studying the novel.

Study notes are available from the publisher (Random House Australia), and in the novel and on my website.

The Janna Mysteries

The Janna Mysteries are set in the 1140s at a time of civil war in England.  After Janna's mother dies mysteriously, Janna uses her powers of deduction to find out who was responsible (Rosemary for Remembrance.)

As the daughter of a poor herbwife, she is unable to bring the murderer to justice and is forced to flee for her life. She decides to go in search of her unknown father and, with his help, avenge her mother's death.

Rue for Repentance sees Janna taking refuge on a manor farm where she again encounters (and is in danger of losing her heart to) the villein Godric and the handsome nobleman, Hugh. But things are not what they seem, and when a child is kidnapped it becomes a race against time to save him.

Forced to flee once more, in Lilies for Love, Janna hides at Wilton Abbey;  she is desperate to learn how to read so that she can follow the clues in her unknown father's letter to her mother. But first there are mysteries to solve, not least finding out who wounded Hugh at the abbey fair. Was he the intended target, or was the knife intended for Janna?

In Willows for Weeping, Janna joins a group of pilgrims en route to Amesbury, where her mother once lived. A charismatic pilgrim joins the group and leads Janna to believe that he can lead her to her father. A letter goes missing, there are several deaths and finally Janna is forced to choose between following her heart and following her conscience.

Rosemary for Remembrance was a CBCA notable book, and Lilies for Love won the Society of Women Writers biennial book award Y/A category. The Janna Mysteries is published by Random House Australia. Teachers' notes (tying in with medieval history studies) are available from the publisher plus there is a comprehensive 'author note' at the back of each novel.

The Shalott Trilogy

The Shalott trilogy is a timeslip series taking five Aussie teenagers back to the court of King Arthur and Camelot, with the intention of saving the life of 'the Lady of Shalott' and thus saving Camelot.

Instead, the teenagers find themselves rewriting their own destiny as they fall in love and into danger.   'Arthurian tales are irresistible and in this inventive novel many of the incidents and set pieces based on details of the legend are highly original and entertaining ...'  Robyn Sheahan-Bright's review of 'Shalott', Viewpoint, Spring 2001.

There are comprehensive author notes at the back of each novel, plus a copy of Tennyson's poem, The Lady of Shalott'.  Published by Random House Australia.
