Introducing Margaret Tanner...
Margaret Tanner is a member of the Romance Writers of Australia, the Romance Writers of New Zealand and Romantic Novelist’s Association, UK, and the Melbourne Romance Writers Group (MRWG). Her fellow writers from the MRWG have been an inspiration and a tower of strength, so generous with their help and support that she will always feel indebted to them. In 2001 she won 1st prize in an unpublished full manuscript competition run by the Romance Writers of Australia. She has won numerous short story competitions, and has had short stories published in magazines and newspapers in Australia. Her two great loves are history and novel writing, and she successfully marries the two in her chosen genre of historical romance. Her favourite historical period is the 1st World War. She loves travelling overseas, and has visited the battlefields of France and Belgium, a truly poignant experience, which adds authenticity to her stories. Margaret was born in the country town of Wangaratta. She lives in Melbourne, Australia’s second largest capital city. She now only works part time as a Medical audio-typist so she can concentrate on her writing career. She is married to Laurie and they have three grown up sons. In January, one of her sons presented her with her first grandchild, a precious little girl. 2006 was a good year for Margaret because she signed contracts for ten books in all. Seven books are to be published by Lovestruck books: Forbidden Love – March 2007 Holly and the Millionaire – June 2007 The English Rose - July 2007 A Rose in No-Mans Land – September 2007 Cardinal Sin – October 2007 White Picket Fence and Babies – November 2007 Baby Maker – December 2007 She will have three books published by WhiskeyCreek Press. Devil’s Ridge - May 2007 Savage Utopia – February 2008 Stolen birthright – September, 2008
Her first book Forbidden Love is particularly close to her heart. It is set just prior to, and during the 2nd World War in England, Australia and Singapore. The Singapore section of the book is partially biographical, as her late father served there during 1941 – 1942, and she has used information from the letters that he wrote to her mother (who was his fiancée at the time,) and also some of his war time experiences that he relayed directly to her when she was a child. Margaret is a prolific writer, and hopes to sign more publishing contracts in 2007. Visit Margaret's Website for more information: http://go.to/margtanner Check out our interview with Margaret
