To say that David Mulligan is an
extremely gifted writer is the understatement of the
year. He has woven such a wonderful tale that it’s
hard to believe that is not his life story! I have
never read such an enthralling account of the Kokoda
Track!
Perhaps David Mulligan is
the young Derek, son of Australian missionaries
based at Gona Mission in Papua New Guinea, during
World War II. Through Derek’s story we head down a
road of discovery and heroic adventure, all the
while, learning the history and true story of the
Kokoda Track.
Books about war are usually full
of facts and figures and not the type of reading I
would choose, but Angels of Kokoda is entertaining
and a refreshingly real, taste of life in Papua New
Guinea.
Giving us a vital history lesson
that is not only enjoyable but also compelling to
read is a big ask but David Mulligan has achieved
this beautifully.
This is a marvellous read and a
wonderful adventure into history; cementing the deep
and meaningful story of Kokoda into our minds.
David Mulligan should be
applauded for his brilliance and congratulated for
this work on the Kokoda Track, which is so much a
part of Australia’s rich history.
